Frequently Asked Questions
The app doesn't receive any ArtNet data. What should I do?
Make sure your iPhone/iPad and the ArtNet node are on the same network. On real devices, ArtNet broadcast reception requires the Apple Multicast Networking Entitlement. If your ArtNet node supports unicast mode, enable Unicast Mode in Settings and enter the IP address of your node directly.
What is Unicast Mode?
By default, ArtNet uses broadcast (2.255.255.255). On iOS devices, receiving broadcast packets requires a special Apple entitlement. As an alternative, Unicast Mode lets DMX.Pro receive packets directly from a specific sender IP — no special entitlement required. Configure your ArtNet node to send unicast to your iPhone's/iPad's IP address.
How many universes does DMX.Pro support?
DMX.Pro analyzes up to 32 ArtNet universes simultaneously.
What does the Flicker indicator mean? Flicker measures the standard deviation of a channel's value over the last 60 frames. A yellow indicator (σ 8–20) means moderate instability; red (σ > 20) indicates significant flickering that may affect your lighting fixtures.
Can I export recorded data?
Yes. Use the Record function (● button in the toolbar) to capture up to 30,000 frames. The recording can be exported as JSON for further analysis.
The app shows a "Broadcast Storm" warning. What does that mean?
This warning appears when DMX.Pro receives more than 2,000 ArtNet packets per second, which may indicate a misconfigured network device. Check your ArtNet nodes and network setup.
